Major green initiatives led by IAS officer HariChandana promoting sustainability and heritage preservation.

IAS officer HariChandana has played a pioneering role in executing sustainable, citizen-friendly environmental projects across Telangana. Her work has blended innovation, conservation, and urban development to create long-lasting public impact.

Plastic Waste into Paver Tiles: Through GHMC, she led an initiative that reused plastic waste to manufacture and install paver tiles. Over 4,000 square feet of pavements were laid during 2017–18. Some media reports mention higher usage estimates (e.g., 25 million metric tons), which require official confirmation.
Durgam Cheruvu Lake Revival: She oversaw the transformation of this lake from a neglected body of water into a scenic public space with eco-friendly amenities, walkways, and green infrastructure.
Baram Baavi Stepwell Restoration: In Narayanpet, she initiated the restoration of this centuries-old stepwell, contributing both to water conservation and heritage site preservation.
India’s First Certified Pet Park: Established in Gachibowli under her leadership, this pet-friendly park features agility zones, splash pools, and separate enclosures for large and small dogs. It remains the first officially certified pet park in India.
