Say No to Drugs, Yes to Life”: Empowering Youth Through Awareness and Action

Updated:Feb 23, 2026

In an era where the challenges facing young people are increasingly complex, the fight against drug abuse has never been more crucial. Recognising this, Hari Chandana, the District Collector of Hyderabad, has taken a proactive stance to empower youth and communities across the city with the powerful message: “Say No to Drugs, Yes to Life.”

Under her leadership, the District Administration has organised a series of awareness drives, rallies, seminars, and campus programmes that bring together students, educators, law enforcement, and civil society to collectively reject narcotics and promote healthy living. At the forefront of these efforts was a major rally held at Jalavihar, where students from schools and colleges gathered to raise their voices against drug abuse. The enthusiasm and participation of the youth sent a clear message: young people are ready to be active partners in building a drug-free society.

In collaboration with police officials including DCP Srivalli and other stakeholders, Ms. Chandana helped launch initiatives such as the “Safety Club” at AV College—programmes designed to give students a platform to continue awareness efforts and support their peers in resisting the lure of substance abuse. These programmes combine education with community engagement, ensuring that young people don’t just hear the message — they live it.

Efforts like these go beyond slogans; they build resilience, confidence, and a sense of purpose among young citizens. By bringing the “Say No to Drugs” campaign into universities, colleges, and neighbourhoods, the administration is nurturing a generation that understands the risks of addiction and is equipped to make healthy life choices.

Initiatives led by Ms. Chandana have played an important role in shifting the conversation — transforming passive awareness into active commitment. In doing so, they remind us that true leadership involves not just enforcing rules but inspiring hearts and minds towards positive change.
